Melodie Simmons, MS, LPC, CEDS, ACHE (she/her/hers) is licensed in Arizona as a Professional Counselor, registered supervisor on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and an American College of Healthcare Executives member. Melodie noticed the need for more BIPOC therapists in Eating Disorders and this realization led to the development of her private practice, RevealED.

Melodie began her career in 2008 as an intensive in-home therapist serving the marginalized, minority, Medicaid communities in rural Mississippi and Tennessee. After obtaining her Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College in 2010, Melodie witnessed the disparities between therapy and medication management and continued her education at Vanderbilt University in an advancing standing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program.

During her time in Nashville, TN, she was recruited by a SAG-AFTRA model and talent agency. This left minimal opportunity for studies and opened up the world of feeding and eating disorders; academics were put on pause. After several years of runway and high fashion work, Melodie sought the need for a focus on the treatment of Feeding and Eating Disorders, for people to explore core beliefs -both societal ED and the ED voice.

After modeling professionally, Melodie moved from Tennessee to Arizona where she worked for one of the largest leading non-profit healthcare systems in the United States. Here, she was able to become an expert in her passion of focusing on feeding and eating disorders. Working in the hospital, she had the opportunity to provide crisis and intake consultations, develop and facilitate an adolescent intensive outpatient program (mental health and substance abuse), utilization management, hospital behavioral health case management and, develop and implement behavioral health and psychiatric consultation service lines throughout the medical floor and emergency department at multiple sites throughout Arizona.

Melodie’s passion for Eating Disorder recovery led her to a Clinical Director role at one of the leading treatment facilities for inpatient, residential treatment, and partial hospitalization in the world. Here she was able to guide clinicians, develop programs, quality assurance, and provide education and training to professionals throughout Arizona.

Melodie was born and raised in Alaska and completed her Bachelor in Psychology, minor in Philosophy at the University of Alaska – Fairbanks. As an undergraduate, she was a Division II Men and Women’s Basketball Cheerleader. Melodie currently resides in North Phoenix, Arizona. She is a wife of a retired United States Army combat veteran who completed several tours during OIF/OEF, and a mother of 3 sons, the youngest are fraternal twins. Melodie is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. living by the founder’s mission of “…Service to All Mankind.” Let’s get to work.
